Weather Forcast (29th June 2017)

Image
The snow is clearing up in North Marlovia for the summer. Meanwhile, in the South it is beginning to get very hot. Down by Oxridge it's especially hot. However, in Temshire, the most south you can go in Northern Marlovia, there is still some snowing. The Northern part of the River Marbar is just defrosting. It will be rather rainy for the next few days in Barvilleshire, the northest you can go in Southern Marlovia, though for the southest of Southern Marlovia expect lots of nice days for picnics. It won't be until mid-July in north of New Hec in the Far North that most of the snow will be completely cleared up.

Royal Gnome Found Missing!

Image
King Marlowe has a large collection of Garden Gnomes, which are ones of the country's national emblems. Today, one of the King's collection of Garden Gnomes went missing. It was later found by the Royal Gardener in the Potting Shed. How it got there nobody will ever know.

The Telecibus Invention and A Quick History of Gadget World.

Image
Marlovia has recently aquired a new invention from Inhabita Imventia , better known as Gadget Island or Gadget World. This new invention is known as the Telecibus. It is shaped like a box and when you press a button, it produces bread. It works like this: the ingredients for bread are all sent to the Telecibus and it combines them in less than a second. Of course, this is only a primitive model, and the new versions will soon be able to produce other kinds of food as well. A Quick History of Gadget World. In 1501, Admiral Kuest sailed the seven seas and one of the places he discovered was a small island which he called Inhabita Imventia. Its inhabitants were all good at inventing things. However, by 1530, all these inhabitants had died out after running out of supplies. In 1552, Jonas Netman came across the island and settled there in a little house. He met a survivor of the original inhabitants, and learnt all the techniques they had used to invent things. He started inve...

The Candidates for the Election.

Image
With the Marlovian General Election coming up, we need to vote for the right person! The MBC predicts that the Liberty Party will get the majority of votes and take the power from the Lords' Party. However, the latest 'scandal' is that the Green Man Association has sided with the Lords' Party. But who really  are  the candidates? Colonel Henry Abuthnot (Centre-left). (Leader of the Liberty Party). The MBC has predicted that Abuthnot is the most likely to win the General Election this year. But will he? We'll find out soon enough. Colonel Abuthnot was born in Africa though grew up in London. He stayed in India for thirty years as a colonel. He then moved to America for two years, where he met his wife Mary Abuthnot (born Debenhamme). This is all rather strange, as none of these countries actually exist in the world of the Palific. Lord Nigel Wilberforce Bassington-Bassington-Incubator (Lords' Party). (Centre-right). Lord Bassington-Bassington is t...

Help Stop Snowflake Gorilla Poaching

Image
A new law protecting snowflake gorillas from being poached has been passed by Sir William Dexter, Hyperborean Minister. But this law has not been passed in Marlovia. In the Far North of Marlovia, poaching of these gentle and fat creatures is still going on. The Green Man Associated has asked YOU (in other words, the Marlovian public) to protest against this vile sport. Snowflake gorillas are an endangered species, and only 10,000 left in the wild at the moment. This snowflake gorilla, Winterus (left) has been made to "dance" ballet with a ballerina while being tortured by sticks and stones and thingies.

The Abuthnots Journey to Meet William Dexter.

Image
Liberty Party Leader, Colonel Abuthnot and his wife Mary The leader of the Liberty Party of Marlovia, Colonel Henry Abuthnot, the most likely to win candidate for the election, is going to the Northern Mountains (Hyperborea) with his wife Mary to greet Hyperboreans and stay with the Minister of Hyperborea, Sir Willem Dexter. Political journalist Thomas Radcliffe says: "Colonel Abuthnot is the most obvious choice for the next election. We have calculated that he will win it. We made a big mistake voting for the Lords' party a couple of years ago and we're not going to make the same mistake again." Mary Debenham Abuthnot said of her husband: "Henry is a very kind and considerate man. I'm sure he'll win the election. I can't wait to be Lady Prime. [It will be] so exciting! Anyway, I'm not sure I'll enjoy our little holiday to the Northern Mountains. Much too cold for me. [I] must rap up warm!" The Colonel has told the press that he...

Weather Forcast (27th June)

Image
It's very snowy here in the Far North, and you can hardly walk your dog without getting completely and utterly covered in snow. While in Northern Marlovia it is still snowing hard, particularly in New Hec in the Far North. A large avalanche happened in the Far North, wreaking a nearby town, Mal in Malfordshire.  Just coming into Summer at Marlowebourough. However, in South Marlovia, it's just getting into the summer, as you can see in this picture of Marloweborough the residence of the Royal family. The Fountains have, of course, defrosted after one of the longest winters (and shortest springs) that we've ever had. It will be rather rainy, however, for the next couple of days, as you can see in this picture of Londinium, the capital city in Dragon Square. However, luckily, at the weekend things are sure to clear up. It is summer, after all.

The Daft Painting

Image
Today, the famous “Daft Painting”, painted in 1805 by Marlovian painter Basil Sculler, was sold at an auction to Private Collector Mr. Henry Dupree. The painting had hung in the Royal Marlovian Art Gallery for more than three decades but will now go to a new home. Mr. Dupree is exhibiting it (but not selling it) in a gallery in his large manor. Admittance is 50 entrance.   Dupree bought the painting for 25,000,000 chubs at the Londinium Annual Auction after the Royal Marlovian Gallery was running out of money and was close to shutting down. A rough sketch of the well-known Raffovian painting Stop, which later turned out to be a forgery, was sold for 100,000,000 chubs there as well.   The Daft Painting, supposedly of Sir Wilfred Howard Daft, is one of the most famous paintings in the Palific world.    While it was actually commissioned by the King of Marlovia Georgus VII to give as a birthday present to Daft, the King died and his daughter Queen Wilhelmina hung o...
